Lorenzo meanwhile headed to Indonesia's ‘Flower City' Bandung, where he too took part in an important press conference to launch the ‘Semakin di Depan' sponsorship.

As well as the press conference he enjoyed a warm welcome at an exclusive fan meet and greet where he signed hundreds of autographs and met many local media. After the Spaniard had visited Bandung, he moved on to Jogjakarta, the city where the traditional Indonesian art of batik is practised, to meet more Yamaha customers there and take part in some outdoor activities at one of the biggest malls in Jogjakarta.

Rossi came straight from testing in Malaysia last week, whilst Lorenzo flew out from Spain, where he has been recuperating at home from an injured hand.

Fiat Yamaha Riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo yesterday rounded off a successful three-day visit to Indonesia, one of the most important markets for Yamaha. Rossi came straight from testing in Malaysia last week, whilst Lorenzo flew out from Spain, where he has been recuperating at home from an injured hand.

Rossi visited Medan first, Indonesia's third largest city, where he took part in a press conference alongside Yamaha Motor Indonesia top management. The press conference officially launched the ‘Semakin di Depan' sponsorship, which will see Yamaha Motor Indonesia's ‘One Step Ahead' logo carried on the YZR-M1 and the riders' leathers this season. Rossi then visited ‘PT.Alfa Scorpii', Indonesia's second largest Yamaha Main Dealer, for the opening ceremony of its new show room along with over 400 customers and media.

After his trip to Medan the World Champion moved on to Indonesia's second largest city Surabaya, where he visited PT. Surya Timur Sakti Jatim, Indonesia's largest Yamaha Main Dealer, to continue to spread the ‘Semakin di Depan' word. Finally he visited the DBL Arena to meet around 4,000 Yamaha customers.

Both riders will return home now for two weeks before the final pre-season test in Qatar, when Lorenzo hopes to be fully recovered from his injury and Rossi will look to continue his dominant start to the pre-season.

As in life, in sport the result is important, but equally important is a pleasure and we've got the Yamaha. We have a great fusion of my teams - Australia, Italy, Japan, UK and many more ... many people together having fun. If in 2004 someone had told me that I would win four world championship with Yamaha and 46 Grand Prix I will enter the blood! I'm happy.

I have to thank first of all Masao Furusawa because we passed some difficult times but we were able to fix bikes and make the best machines, so I just have to say thank you to everyone who helped me in seven seasons, and wished everyone a good .

This is a very emotional day but I'm very happy also because I have no regrets and no bad moments or thoughts during seven seasons together with Yamaha. From the beginning it was something great and we worked very well together.

Masao Furusawa

First of all I do not believe Valentino is coming to Yamaha because the bike is not great but somehow it worked. After South Africa in 2004 I felt like I was in heaven, it is in a very interesting and impressive. In 2004 Valentino was the only one who can win on the YZR-M1 so that he contributed a lot to develop the bike.

I would like to thank Valentino very much, I started in MotoGP in 2003 and a year of terrible, almost like I'm in hell! I really want to make YZR-M1 bike better but more investigation, the more I realized I needed something else, more than a bicycle. So we found a Valentino Rossi.

This year not only Valentino but also three other riders who quickly so clear that our YZR-M1 is a pretty nice bike. This is mainly due to the contribution of Valentino over the years so I really appreciate it and I want to hope for the best in the future.

Lin Jarvis

In 2003 when we had a year we were the worst ever in Grand Prix racing and finally we say that anything that we would do, without Valentino Rossi in that chair will not work! That is the point where we decided that we needed him.

There are some interesting and secret negotiations with Valentino and it is a very important decision but, with support from Masao Furusawa and President of Yamaha Motor Company, we make it happen. This is a 'do or die'. With great commitment from Yamaha, the engineers and everyone in our team managed to work. We are very, very grateful for the arrival of Valentino to really change things around for Yamaha and we returned to winning ways.

We are very grateful and thanked him for it. We have moments of fun and exciting so much with him and with the crew that he was carrying, a great man. Today we will say goodbye to a large number of people, including Davide Brivio, Jerry Burgess and the entire crew. We have had a super time, it was really a very good team and we will lose them tomorrow, will be a strange day.

We've just come from the other side of the world and unfortunately been too busy for us after the GP of Malaysia and Australia to make a full insider for the race this week in Estoril. Jorge and Valentino really wants to share their feelings and experience the latest, so we're happy to still have a little news for you.

The night was beautiful. This is also the first time to see my family and with them. I do not really cry, but when I met again with my dad, I almost cried, because she was the one who started me on this path.

"Since I became World Champion of my life has been amazing! This is a lifelong dream and have reached a still almost unbelievable. After Phillip Island, I returned to Mallorca and I have an overwhelming response from the community, with a procession through the streets of Palma , with thousands of people there to greet me.

My team and I look forward to the last two races, we could relax and think about racing, which is really impossible when we are still concentrating on the championship. We can not take the risk! Now I only ride for now and it is a great feeling. Estoril is one of my best tracks, I've won from the pole there for two years, so we'll try to do it again. Then we finished in Spain, close to my house, so I can not wait to see all the fans there.

After Valencia we immediately began working in 2011, along with my new partner Ben-team, and I can not wait to get started. Until then we have one more thing to focus on and that is the title of Manufacturers', it is within our grasp and I hope to help us achieve this and the Triple Crown. "

Yamaha’s has given Rossi the all clear to ride for his 2011 Ducati team

The question of whether 31 years would be allowed by Yamaha to ride Desmosedici for the team that he has signed for the 2011 season remains a very attractive among the media, and in an interview with broadcaster Italia 1 Italian MotoGP Rossi says he finally received permission from Furusawa after spoke with him on Saturday night.

2009 saw Valentino Rossi cross more milestones in his incredible career and take a ninth world championship title, his fourth with Yamaha. He showed that after fourteen years of racing in the World Championship he is still the best rider of his generation and worthy of his crown.

The Italian hero took six wins in a season which saw him and his rivals all make mistakes at times as they pushed each other to unexpectedly great heights. Rossi’s battle with his team-mate Jorge Lorenzo reached epic proportions with the Battle of Barcelona due to go down in history as one of the greatest ever, Rossi triumphing with an audacious last-corner move that saw him win by just thousandths of a second.

His incredible run of Mugello victories came to an end but he made up for it with a perfect performance at his home track of Misano when he also took one of his seven pole positions. His victory in Holland was the 100th win of his career, further proof, if any is needed, that he truly is one of the greats. He finally secured the title at Sepang and will come out all guns blazing in 2010 as he looks to make it ten.

Born in Urbino, Italy on 16th February 1979, Rossi was riding bikes from an early age thanks to the influenceof his father Graziano, himself a former Grand Prix winner. Following an early start in go-karts, Rossi junior progressed to minimotos and quickly showed a talent for two-wheels, becoming regional champion in 1992. The next few years saw him quickly rise up through ranks of junior road racing, claiming the Italian Sport Production Championship in 1994 and the Italian 125cc Championship in 1995. The latter, twinned with an impressive 3rd place in the 125cc European Championship, was enough to secure him a ride in the World Championship the following year.

Rossi`s World Championship debut came at the Malaysian Grand Prix in 1996 and he fnished his frst international season in 9th place with one race win. The following year he became the youngest ever rider to win the 125cc World Championship, winning eleven races along the way with Aprilia. The pattern continued when he moved into the 250cc class, taking second place in his frst year before becoming World Champion in 1999, once again with Aprilia.

In 2000 he entered a new phase of his career when he joined forces with Honda in the 500cc class. He proved his worth once again by finishing second, before becoming the last ever 500cc World Champion in 2001. Rossi subsequently took the MotoGP World title in 2002 and 2003, before moving to Yamaha and winning it again in 2004 and 2005.

Rossi made history by moving to Yamaha in 2004 and winning the season-opening Grand Prix in South Africa, becoming the frst rider in the history of the sport to win back-to-back premier class races for different manufacturers. He went on to win nine out of 16 races, finally clinching the World Championship title, Yamaha`s frst for 12 years, with victory at the penultimate Grand Prix in Phillip Island. A final win at the Valencia Grand Prix also ensured that the Yamaha Factory Team won the team title.

He dominated the 2005 season, winning eleven races in total, taking five pole positions and only fnishing off the podium once. In doing he became one of only five riders in the history of the sport to win the premier-class title on five occasions. He also helped Yamaha to win the Manufacturers’ and Team titles, ensuring Yamaha celebrated its 50th Anniversary with one of its best ever years in Grand Prix.

2006 saw him finish World Champion runner-up for only the second time in his premier-class career, having lost the title to Honda’s Nicky Hayden by just five points following a final-race showdown in Valencia. Despite this, Rossi still took five race wins and five pole positions in 2006, more than any other rider, and stood on the podium ten times.

2007 was undoubtedly one of the hardest seasons of his career. Rossi took four race wins in 2007 and several podiums, but his prodigious talents were limited by technical and tyre problems as well as plain bad luck. The Italian missed out on the runner-up spot in the championship by just one point after his final race was wrecked by injury and third place was his lowest championship finish since his rookie year in 1996.

After a torrid two seasons, Valentino Rossi returned to winning form in 2008 and recaptured the MotoGP title. The Italian won nine races – equal to his first season with Yamaha in 2004 – and stood on the podium at 16 out of 18 rounds. Notable highlights in an exceptional year included a seventh straight win at Mugello, a titanic duel with Casey Stoner in Laguna Seca, where Rossi had never previously won, and a historic victory at hurricane-struck Indianapolis. Rossi eventually took the title in the best possible way, with a victory at Yamaha’s home track in Japan, with three races to go. It was his eighth career title and his third with Yamaha.

He turns 31 in February 2010 and is as enthusiastic as ever as he embarks on his seventh season with Yamaha. He continues to have the support of his long-standing Crew Chief, Jeremy Burgess, who moved from Honda to work with him at Yamaha Factory Racing in 2004.

One of the most popular members of the paddock, ‘The Doctor` has a wide fan base all over the world. He is a keen supporter of Inter Milan football club and also an accomplished rally driver.
